I. Bugs

  1. There appears to be a bug in the tiemr mechanism, which causes the timer to exceed the preset limit and continue upwards. This results in a clearly erroneous timer display in the status bar, e.g. "1362/15", where KookieJar was set to generate a new signature every 15 minutes. As far as I can tell, this is mostly a coemstic issue, and the program generates signatures correctly. I have not been able to replicate the bug yet, but I'll fix it as soon as I can get back to it.
No other outstanding bugs known, but feel free to report some.
For missing features, see the Open-Source development page.

II. Limitations

  1. Template syntax verification is minimal. Refer to the help file if the results you're getting are not what you expected.
  2. Find function missing from the the Select Quote dialog box.
  3. On Windows 2000 systems, the Media Player Deluxe stores the CD information in an Access database file instead of the plain old "cdplayer.ini" file. KookieJar cannot read CD information stored in the new format, and there are no plans to implement it (because I don't plan on installing Windows 2000! - and anyway, adding full database capabilities to KookieJar would be way over the top.)
  4. KookieJar does not work with CDDB. For one thing, I don't want to add internet connectivity to the program; it's big enough as it is. For another CDDB is using evil - or plain moronic - business practices since they've gone commercial, and I don't like them.
  5. If quotes are loaded on demand (configuration option), changes to the quote file that you may make in the Select Quote window (added, removed or edited quotes) are not reflected until a new signature is generated, thus reloading the modified file. (This is purely cosmetic and has no effect on the functioning of the program.)
  6. Quotes cannot be added, removed or edited if the quote file is loaded on demand. This is unlikely to change. If this bothers you, I suggest you turn the "Load on demand" feature OFF. if you have enough memory to be running Kookie, 5 or 10 additional kilobytes is not a big deal, and signature geneeration will be much faster.
  7. The Help file is a bit behind the times. The most current information is always included in the text file "history.txt".
