PhoneDeck: Development plans

Features to be implemented shortly:

• Improved clipboard copy function - ability to predefine groups of fields to copy, so that you can quickly copy the part of address for sending private mail, business mail, etc.
• Option to start the program with a category filter active (i.e. with the address view restricted to preselected category)

Features to be implemented at in a later release (deferred to the next major version):

• Ability to configure the email application and web browser. (Currently, PhoneDeck always uses the applications registered in your system; if you have more than one, you cannot choose which to use with PhoneDeck.)
• Ability to encrypt address book files
• Importing from and exporting to VCard files
• Possibly: some form of to-do notes or alarms associated with entries. For example, if an entry contains a Birth date, the program could remind the user a few days ahead of the date approaching.
• Safe delete: Deleted entries not physically erased from address book file, but only marked as deleted. Entries deleted physically only when the user activates a "Purge" command.

Features that will NOT be implemented in the current version of PhoneDeck:

(requests for these features will be cheerfully ignored :-)

• Full PIM capabilities (it's only a simple address book!)
• Printing. If you want to print, export the address book to a CSV or HTML file, and open the file in an application that can read these files (such as MS office applications, or your Web browser). This will give you a much better looking printout than I could achieve with PhoneDeck.
